The UAE stated on Saturday it welcomed the United Nations Normal Meeting’s vote for Palestine to turn out to be a full member of the United Nations, calling it “a historic step on the highway to peace and the belief of a two-state resolution”.
The official WAM information company quoted a press release from the UAE Ministry of Overseas Affairs as saying: “The UAE, which submitted the draft decision for the State of Palestine to turn out to be a full member of the United Nations, is firmly dedicated to selling peace and justice, safeguarding the rights of the brotherly Palestinian individuals, and in accordance with worldwide legality resolutions and Calls for an settlement to finish the Palestinian-Israeli battle and set up an unbiased, sovereign Palestinian state.
The ministry famous in a press release that the UAE “all the time calls on the worldwide group to strengthen all regional and worldwide efforts to realize peace and a two-state resolution”.
The draft decision submitted by the UAE and adopted on Friday with a majority of 143 votes in favour, 9 in opposition to and 25 abstentions said that “Palestine is eligible for membership of the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Constitution and subsequently it needs to be admitted to the United Nations” member states.
Whereas the choice angered Israel, it was welcomed by the Palestinian Authority and Arab states.
