Amazon Prime Day hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect the date to arrive soon. Last year, the Prime Day sale took place in July, followed by a new offer called Prime Big Deal Days in October.
Prime members can look forward to deep price cuts on everything from TVs and electronics to pet supplies and home goods during Prime Day. It’s an exciting time for savvy shoppers, but researching the best deals and making sure you’re getting your money’s worth can also be overwhelming. Here are some tools and tips to guide you through your Prime Day journey.
Take advantage of price tracking tools
Check out specialized websites and browser extensions that can track prices for you.
-
camel camel camel is a website that gives you price history charts for Amazon products and even sends you alerts when prices drop. To up your price monitoring game, you can install a browser extension called “The Camelizer,” which gives you instant access to price history while you shop.
-
Keep is a price monitoring website and browser extension specifically for Amazon products. You can also use it to compare prices on other retailer sites such as eBay.
-
Other tools that can scrape the web for deals and notify you of price drops include Honey and smooth deal. These sites are especially useful because the “Prime Day Effect” often results in other retailers holding competing sales events.
Ask Alexa for help
If you have a newer Echo device, you can enable Alexa’s Advanced Deal Alerts feature to find and track deals on the products you want. The smart assistant will notify you 24 hours in advance of deals that have been added to your cart, saved for later, or added to your wish list. To turn on this setting, go to the Alexa app and turn on Notifications under Settings. From here, click Amazon Shopping and scroll down to toggle deal recommendations. Your Echo device will flash a yellow ring to indicate that this setting has taken effect.
Check Featured List
Finding the best Prime Day deals is one thing, but how do you know what deals are available elsewhere? To be sure, most products on Amazon have some kind of discount, but some deals are better than others, which means it’s important to know what to buy and what to buy no Shop on Prime Day.
Popular stories that can be mixed and matched
Mashable’s shopping team is already scouring Amazon’s vast inventory to highlight the best deals, and we’ll be keeping an eye on them throughout the sale. We expect Prime Day to be a good time to buy tech products such as Apple devices, noise-canceling headphones, and robot vacuum cleaners.
Don’t forget about other retailers
During October’s Big Deal Days event, we saw other retailers capitalize on the craze by hosting their own sales. While retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, and Target have yet to announce their own events this year, we expect they will launch promotions during or around Prime Day.
Competition can be a great way to keep prices down, but certain retailers have expertise in these sales. Best Buy is generally good for big tech items like high-end TVs or laptops, as well as gaming deals, Walmart is good for more affordable TVs and home tech, and Target is best for everyday essentials.
Shop invitation-only offers to avoid confusion
During last year’s Prime Day, Amazon launched an invitation-only offer. You can request invitations for high-demand products; last year, 50-inch Amazon Fire TV Omni series TVs and Blink Outdoor security camera systems were 60% off. Lucky shoppers selected to take part in these offers will receive an email containing a unique link to purchase while the promotion is live.
