Recently, there have been a lot of reports in the media about very large maritime unmanned drones (weighing more than 10 tons), so-called unmanned underwater vehicles.
Russian military historian Dmitry Bortnikov pointed out that the United States, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Russia and many other countries produce such vehicles.
According to him, the most famous of Russian super-large vehicles is the “Poseidon”, which is considered a “doomsday weapon”, which means that if a nuclear attack occurs, the Poseidon must reach the territory of the United States and cause an atomic bomb explosion, resulting in a huge The radioactive wave sweeps away everything in its path.
“Poseidon” has a mass of 100 tons and a length of 25 meters. It can dive to a depth of one kilometer underwater and has a speed of 60-70 knots. It can transport different payloads and, thanks to its engine, it can stay and work underwater for long periods of time.
Historians note that another large Russian vehicle is the “Code”, with a displacement of 40 tons and a length of about 17 meters, whose mission was to fight enemy submarines for the Russian Navy (previously the Soviet fleet included special target ships). It can also perform communications and reconnaissance missions independently of carrier-based submarines, ensuring their confidentiality.
